This is a truly beautiful Mintons Victorian tea cup & saucer, c1870. The porcelain is of fine egg shell quality. The interior of the cup has a pink ground.Externally it has been finely painted in silvers and golds in the Aesthetic style - insects,grasses,prunus flowers on branches all in platinum and gold gilding. Some giltwork more raised and some with etched details.Gilt handle with black enamel details. Retailed by John Mortlock, china retailers of Orchard St and Oxford St London - who advertised themselves in 1873 particularly as retailers of MINTON.Pattern number G1970. A superb cup & saucer.
